Bioglycolic® Line

Glycolic acid is what is known as an "alpha hydroxy acid," or "AHA." Alpha hydroxy acids are a family of acids that occur naturally in various fruits and foods, and are often collectively referred to as fruit acids. Glycolic acid found in sugar cane has received the most attention medically because it has the smallest molecule of all the AHAs. This small molecular weight enables glycolic acid to penetrate more effectively and to ultimately bring about the most dramatic and beneficial changes of all the AHAs.

Among other things, glycolic acid loosens the "glue-like" attachments or cellular cement that is characteristic of many skin conditions such as acne, photodamage (environmental aging), and hyperpigmentation. This non-invasive lifting of the cells in the stratum corneum enables glycolic acid to act as a phenomenal resurfacing agent that can immensely improve the appearance of the skin and has even proven to be a valuable tool in reducing the depth of acne scarring.

Bioglycolic® Facial Lotion SPF 15

Non-Chemical Sunblock for Sensitive Skin

Jan Marini Skin Research Bioglycolic Facial Lotion SPF 15 non-chemical sunblock is the first glycolic acid resurfacing agent that is combined with a totally non-chemical sunblocking agent. Facial Lotion SPF 15 is formulated using highly micronized titanium dioxide and the identical percentage of glycolic acid as contained in our regular Facial Lotion. Titanium dioxide is known as a "physical block," meaning that unlike chemical agents, it deflects the sun's UV rays before they can penetrate the skin. Because of titanium dioxide's superior ability to give total protection, it has broad spectrum blocking capabilities that include UVB, UVA, UVC and infrared rays.

Facial Lotion SPF 15 provides excellent protection for all patients and especially those who have sensitivities to chemical sunscreens. Our preparation is comprised of non-comedogenic ingredients and is suitable for all skin types. As with regular Bioglycolic Facial Lotion, we have incorporated our unique phytoamine bio-complex along with hyaluronic acid in order to significantly augment the skin's hydration level.
